Candace & Shannon
These two ladies are co-workers of Erik's, and former co-workers of mine, which is how we came to be acquainted. It didn't take long before Candace was telling me about her and Shannon's story and their engagement, and when they found out we photographed weddings, it took no time for them to give us the honour of being able to capture theirs. Set in the beautiful mountains of BC, the wedding took place at a family friend's rodeo grounds, just off of the Canoe River Campground near Valemount. With the majority of the guest list setting up camp for the weekend, it was so wonderfully welcoming being among so many of their family and friends, that we almost felt like family by the time we left. It was definitely a nice day for a rainbow wedding! Starting with pancakes for all, they encouraged their guests to relax and enjoy the day. This included using their own favourite lawn lounger to watch the ceremony, which was short and sweet, but heartfelt. With an absolutely beautiful backdrop, we followed up the ceremony with some fun and silly formals with their stunning rainbow of a wedding party. Afterwards, we took a walk for some beautifully colourful photos of the pair, as they enjoyed each other's company as wife and wife for the first time. The reception commenced, and what a dinner! From a pig roast, to homemade blueberry wine and apple pie moonshine, to rolls that family have been known to fight over, we felt very lucky indeed to be invited to the table. The couple did some kissing based on the roll of a special die, shared their first dance, cut some awesome rainbow cake, and boogied the night away. With all the hands involved in putting their day together, it was evident that this was an amazing group of people, who felt so much love and support for this amazing duo. And it was truly a pleasure to be in the midst of so much love!
